Algar Plastics Selects Siemens PLM Software's Solid Edge and CAM Express Solutions
Velocity Series Products Replace Autodesk and Mastercam

PLANO, Texas, March 6, 2008 – Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division and a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced Algar Plastics Canada Ltd., a manufacturer of point of purchase display systems, has selected Solid Edge® software and CAM ExpressTM software for its design and manufacturing needs over competing products SolidWorks®, Autodesk® and Mastercam®. Algar purchased the software from Siemens PLM Software partner Designfusion.

Algar Plastics is one of Canada's leading display and store fixture manufacturers, operating full plastic, metal, wood, vacuum form divisions encompassing more than 80,000 square feet of manufacturing facilities.

“Solid Edge and CAM Express will enable us to move to 3D and reduce our rework and scrap,” said Barry Pokrass, vice president of engineering, Algar Plastics. “Solid Edge’s high-quality CAD renderings will allow us to improve our design review process. CAM Express enables us to leverage our investment in a new Haas 3-axis machine. Together this new software combination will help us enter new markets such as vacuum forming.”

“Algar needed a 3D system that would ease their transition from 2D and provide strong sheet metal design,” said Kevin Johnstone, president, Designfusion. “Solid Edge’s ease of use and its integration with CAM Express were critical decision factors. They also wanted a CAD system from the same company (Siemens PLM Software) that develops the Parasolid modeler that is used across so many CAD/CAM/CAE applications worldwide.”

“This win is further evidence of the value our Velocity Series products provide the SMB market in Canada,” said Phil Taylor, vice president, Canada operations, Siemens PLM Software. “Our partner, Designfusion, provides the highest level of customer service and responsiveness to our customers, which aligns with our goal of staying customer-focused.

ZEdit Pro Software Makes Files 3D Printing-ready

BURLINGTON, MASS., USA – Z Corporation today announced new software that prepares 3D data files for easy full-color 3D printing, automatically and with unprecedented ease.

ZEdit™ Pro lets users of 3D mechanical CAD software verify and ensure that geometric data is 3D printable; apply colors, texture maps and labels to their models; and easily print very large prototypes in component pieces. It also transforms files that were never originally intended for 3D printing, including those produced by 3D digital content creation software used in animation and architecture. ZEdit Pro makes these files 3D printing-ready, often with a single click.

With these capabilities, Z Edit Pro enables product designers to create better models faster, and enables a new class of creative professionals – including architects, conceptual designers, and game designers – to reap the same benefits of easy 3D printing as mechanical engineers.

Breakthrough ‘water curing’ material advances easy, clean and green 3D printing

BURLINGTON, Mass., USA, May 1, 2007 – Z Corporation today released a new high-performance composite material that introduces the world’s easiest, safest and greenest post-processing option for finishing monochrome 3D printed models – a quick mist with tap water. Monochrome parts made with zp®140 require no further treatment or equipment to reach their finished strength. The process is quick, perfectly safe, and virtually cost-free.

In addition to the water curing capability, zp140 delivers the brightest whites (180 percent whiter than before), fastest production and lowest cost per finished part. It hardens in less than half of the time of previous materials, enabling users to print detailed parts faster and show them off sooner.
